Group Actions
When Apparity discovers files, it tries to find other similar files that indicate they are copies of the same EUCA. Apparity calls these "groups", which can be comprised of many copies of the same file (e.g., a monthly file might have 12 different copies each year, but it is still the same EUCA). Apparity displays information at the group level to reduce noise. There are many ways to view/interact with the groups and the files contained within.
Group Actions
Group Details
The Group Details feature allows a user to interrogate the group details. There are three sections:
- Group Summary: Breakdown of the group's files, locations, complexity, and modifiers.
- File List: A list of all files that comprise the group. Further, users can leverage this section to drill into the specific structural details gathered via Discovery leveraging the View/Edit Details icon and connections to other files via the Model Map Explorer icon.
There may be instances when the user needs to move one or more files from the current group into either a completely new group or to a different, existing group. To do so, users can select the file(s) using the checkbox to the left and then select the "Change Group" button. To move to an existing group, the user can then type in the name of an existing group to move the files to.
Note: if the user moves the file(s) to a new group, then that user who took the action will be made the "Assessor" of the newly created group.
3. Group History: Audit trail of group name changes and movement of files in/out of the group via "Change Group" (must tick checkbox to see file movements).
Triage/Assess Group
Assessment is the process by which users can add the usage/impact information that determines EUCA policy scope. Assessment questions are unique to each organization. For more information on providing assessment details, refer to the Assessing Unregistered Inventory section.
Assessment
Rename Group
Functionality to allow a user to edit the EUCA group name so that it better reflects EUCA name. Apparity will name the group based on the name of the files comprising the group (or, in pre-10.22.4 builds, using a "Group ###" format). An audit trail of changes to Group Name are captured in Group History (accessible via Group Details, above).
